Step 1: The Volcano
Draw 2 curved lines as shown, connected at the top with a zigzag line to make the volcano.
Step 2: Lava
Draw streams of lava on the body of the volcano as shown, then draw some drops of lava coming out from the top of the volcano going down on the sides.
Step 3: Smoke
Draw a giant cloud coming out from the top of the volcano to make the smoke, then draw some half circles inside it for some details. Draw a few circles around the cloud for more details.
Step 4: The Trunk of The Palm Tree
Draw 2 curved lines coming from the bottom of the volcano on the left side going up.
Step 5: Trunk Details
Draw overlapping square shapes on the trunk as shown for texture.
Step 6: Leaves
For the leaves draw banana shapes coming out from the trunk and going out overlapping each other as shown.
Step 7: Leaves Details
In each banana shape, draw a curved line in the middle of it, and a few tiny triangles on the sides for some texture.
Step 8: Another Palm Tree
Draw another palm tree similar to the one we just made, revise steps 4-7.
Step 9: Another Palm Tree
On the other side of the volcano, draw another palm tree similar to the one we just made, revise steps 4-7.
Step 10: One Last Palm Tree
Draw another palm tree similar to the one we just made, revise steps 4-7.
Step 11: Island and Sea
Around the bottom of the volcano and trees draw large irregular shape for the island, then draw a bigger one around it for the sea.
Step 12: Rocks and Grass
On the island, draw half circles to make some rocks, some big and others smaller, around the bottom of the trees as shown. In between, draw a spiky shape for some grass. Along the island, draw several small half circles to make small rocks all around the island.
Congratulations, now you can draw a volcano on an island.
Now, grab the colors of your choice and start painting your drawing, I am sure it will be outstanding.
Tip: To show light reflection on any surface while coloring, leave a small line or sometimes circles without color as shown in the colored picture.
Tip: If you are using colored pencil and would like to achieve a 3D effect as the one in my drawing, pick a darker shade for the color you pick and go over some parts of the drawing with this darker shade as shown in the final picture, and try to blend the two colors together well on paper by easing the pressure on the pencil tip as you go towards the lighter parts.
