Step 1: Top of the head and ears
Draw a curved line for the top of the head and a triangular shape on each side of the line for the ears.
Step 2: Sides of the face
Draw a curved line with little zigzags for the cat's fur on each side of the face.
Step 3: Front leg
On the right side, draw the front leg of the cat as shown.
Step 4: Another front leg
On the left side, draw the other front leg going up waving as shown. Draw small circles for the paw print of the cat.
Step 5: Inner ears and flat surface
Draw a triangular shape inside each ear, then draw a straight line intersecting the legs to resemble the flat surface on which the cat is leaning. You can use a ruler to draw the flat surface.
Step 6: Face features.
Draw 2 curved lines for the happy eyes, an inverted triangle for the nose, then draw the mouth as shown and some whiskers on each side of the mouth.
Congratulations, now you can draw a cute cat.
Now, grab the colors of your choice and give some color to your masterpiece.
Tip: To show light reflection on any surface while coloring, leave a small line or sometimes circles without color as shown in the colored picture.
Tip: If you are using colored pencil and would like to achieve a 3D effect as the one in my drawing, pick a darker shade for the color you pick and go over some parts of the drawing with this darker shade as shown in the final picture, and try to blend the two colors together well on paper by easing the pressure on the pencil tip as you go towards the lighter parts.
