Step 1: Around the eyes
Draw the top of a heart shape.
Step 2: Face features
Draw two circles for each eye, one smaller than the other, meeting at the bottom. Shade the inner circle so that you leave a small triangle at the side without shading to give it a highlighted effect.
Draw 2 dots for the nose and a big curved line for the mouth.
Step 3: Around the mouth
Draw an incomplete oval shape around the mouth connecting the 2 sides of the top of the heart shape around the eyes.
Step 4: The top of the head and ears
Draw the top of the monkey's head over the top of the heart shape around the eyes, with some fur going upwards at the very top of the head.
On each side of the head, draw an incomplete oval shape for the ear, with a small curved line inside it for some texture.
Step 5: Shoulders and belly
Draw a shoulder going down from each side of the face.
Draw a semicircle facing down for the top of the belly.
Draw a straight line at the bottom that will resemble the surface on which our monkey is leaning. You can use a ruler for this part.
Step 6: The hands
Draw 2 hands, one below each shoulder, with 3 fingers each, 2 pointing down and one leaning on the surface.
Congratulations, now you can draw our cute little monkey.
Now, grab the colors of your choice and start coloring your drawing, I am sure it will be outstanding.
Tip: To show light reflection on any surface while coloring, leave a small line or sometimes circles without color as shown in the colored picture.
Tip: If you are using colored pencil and would like to achieve a 3D effect as the one in my drawing, pick a darker shade for the color you pick and go over some parts of the drawing with this darker shade as shown in the final picture, and try to blend the two colors together well on paper by easing the pressure on the pencil tip as you go towards the lighter parts.
